Define the purchase duty
High molecular weight can be a useful screening description, but it is not a complete acceptance specification. A buyer should connect the offered product to measurable separation and handling behavior instead of selecting the largest unqualified catalogue number.
Identify the sample, actual feed and required water-and-solids result before asking for a recurring supply commitment.
Clarify the stated property
Ask whether a value is measured, estimated, a typical range or a qualitative grade designation. Request the relevant method where analytical indicators are provided. The RFQ checklist distinguishes product description from routine lot controls.
Neat viscosity is not automatically a molecular-weight measurement. Temperature, formulation and test conditions can change what a physical reading represents.
Test the full mineral response
Compare identified grades using controlled inversion and equal active-dose steps. Record fines capture, interface behavior and compaction after relevant mixing. The long-chain trial profile defines the application question without promising that every long chain gives a stronger usable floc.
Large initial floc does not establish behavior through the feedwell, withdrawal pump or filter. Keep each downstream limitation in the sample record.
Connect the offer to feasible preparation
Check whether the installed system can reproduce the successful activation and deliver the prepared solution consistently. Include transfer conditions and available residence, especially when the supplier used a different laboratory preparation.
If a candidate needs equipment outside the current scope, report that requirement before commercial approval. A favorable hand-prepared sample is not proof of brownfield compatibility.
Test the limiting condition
A fast-settling candidate can lose its advantage when the underflow becomes difficult to withdraw or filter. Compare the combined accepted duty before paying a premium for a molecular-weight description alone.
Preserve any untested condition in the acceptance record. A promising sample response is not an unrestricted capacity or treatment guarantee.
