Define the purchase duty
A lamella-clarifier recommendation should address the installed inlet and separation arrangement. A settling jar can help screen chemistry, but it does not prove how floc distributes, deposits or withdraws through an inclined-plate unit.
Identify the sample, actual feed and required water-and-solids result before asking for a recurring supply commitment.
Define the inlet conditioning duty
Record feed solids, water chemistry, upstream coagulant, pH correction, mixing and injection. Identify equipment operating limits and required outlet measurement. The industrial clarification record sets the chemical sequence.
Keep the direct substitution scope clear. If a supplier changes coagulant and polymer together, compare that complete proposal rather than assigning every benefit to emulsion alone.
Screen a useful floc window
Use controlled activation and active-dose steps with matched observation times. Record fines and compaction alongside settling. Assess the floc after a representative contact path where practical.
Do not assume that the largest floc is best for the installed unit. Preserve any concern about deposition, distribution or sludge concentration as a production-trial requirement.
Confirm continued operation
Measure outlet solids, sludge withdrawal, loading and relevant inspection or cleaning observations during the agreed run. Apply the bench test record as a starting point, not the final operating approval.
A product that meets outlet quality briefly but creates unacceptable deposit or withdrawal behavior has not passed the full purchase duty. Include the operating duration in the report.
Test the limiting condition
A candidate tested only during low hydraulic loading may appear reliable while the routine peak condition remains untested. Record that limitation and schedule a representative confirmation rather than promising unrestricted clarifier capacity.
Preserve any untested condition in the acceptance record. A promising sample response is not an unrestricted capacity or treatment guarantee.
