Define the purchase duty
Process compatibility and activation-water suitability are separate questions. An emulsion that flocculates the operating slurry after correct preparation has not automatically demonstrated reliable inversion in that same recycled water. The purchasing plan should test the actual preparation route.
Identify the sample, actual feed and required water-and-solids result before asking for a recurring supply commitment.
Define the proposed water supply
Record water source, solids, pH, temperature, conductivity and relevant ion or treatment information. Identify normal variation and upstream carryover. The make-down guide separates water-contact effects from later slurry interaction.
Use representative difficult water as well as a qualified control where practical. Conductivity alone does not identify every component that can affect the comparison.
Test activation and hardware together
Prepare candidates using supplier-reviewed conditions and compare solution quality and actual treatment output. Review filtration, injector and contact-device condition where suspended material or deposits are relevant.
Record any required pretreatment or backup water in the scope. Do not describe a reuse proposal as an accepted saving while its preparation stability and maintenance implications remain untested.
Set a practical continuity rule
Define what change in water source or measured condition triggers review or fallback. Compare chemical consumption only at a common process endpoint. Use the controlled sample method to investigate a changed response before replacing chemistry.
A candidate passing one unusually clean recycled-water sample has a limited qualification. Preserve that boundary in supply planning instead of assuming the result covers every future water-balance condition.
Test the limiting condition
If a brief test gives similar floc but a longer run develops deposits or drifting solution delivery, the original comparison is incomplete. Resolve the activation and equipment evidence before promising identical consumption to a freshwater baseline.
Preserve any untested condition in the acceptance record. A promising sample response is not an unrestricted capacity or treatment guarantee.
Keep a traceable comparison
| Purchase check | Evidence | Decision boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Water | Source and difficult-condition record | Representative supply tested |
| Hardware | Contact and deposit inspection | Maintenance scope visible |
| Continuity | Backup and review trigger | Routine use remains practical |
Retain the commercial code, sample reference, preparation method and measurement timing. Record rejected conditions as well as the preferred point so later shipments can be assessed against the actual evidence.
Request a scoped recommendation
Send water results, variability, preparation equipment, filtration and backup-water arrangements. Request a scoped trial that evaluates the water change separately from any simultaneous grade replacement.
